As previously stated I my “Free Festival Fun” post, there are lots of fun and free events occurring around Brighton this month.
Whether you want to catch some free comedy, or a play, or just pop into the Open Houses to see some of the local artwork, there is something to satisfy everyone’s interests.
I sat outside the Fitzherbert pub on New Road on the weekend watching some local dancers – The Fanti Acrobats International, as they danced around and squeezed into the most awkward of positions, including one of the dancers moulding himself to fit into a large bowl which another dancer carried around. Crazy stuff!
Then there is the pop up gallery at 40 Gloucester Road courtesy of Brighton’s Arty Magazine until the 31st May, with fabulous sculptures and paintings from the likes of local artists Mikey Firb, Eve Shepherd and some fabulous jewellery by Rentaro Nishimura and Jon Forster plus plenty more.
There is also the lovely (but slightly dangerous) pop up Hendricks Gin Bar at Jubilee Square. I say dangerous but it’s probably my own fault for having eaten very little before visiting the bar and then ordering 4 Gin and Absinthe cocktails and drinking them just a little bit too quickly!
The bar is only up until Sunday 27th May so make sure you visit them at some point, especially whilst the sun is out, and try one of their fabulous cocktails and catch a show there too.
