As you may have realised I do love love love my food and if you ever catch me in a slightly grumpy mood it’s more than likely because I haven’t had food in my stomach for at least 2 hours!
A couple of Sundays ago I had a lovely lazy morning and then wandered down to the Pub With No Name on Southover Street. Now if you live in Brighton, you know that Southover Street is one of the most horrendously steep hills in Brighton, but it’s definitely worth it just to get to the Pub With No Name to try one of their infamous roasts….wild boar, guinea fowl, zebra, and horse to name a few.
This pub could definitely do with a lick of paint and maybe some bits of new furniture to replace the ones that are there and falling apart but the food clearly makes up for all this!
I’m quite an adventurous person when it comes to trying food and having already tried reindeer over Christmas (sorry Rudolph!) I decided to give the Llama roast try. My friend opted for the Springbok (Afrikaans and Dutch: spring = jump; bok = antelope or goat) roast. Both were covered in mountains of vegetables, potatoes and gravy (my mouth is watering at the thought) and I have to say, Llama tastes good! I do feel a bit guilty seeing as my friend has a field of Llamas at the back of her house in Oxford and I used to wander up to them and stroke them…but the delicious flavour soon knocked the guilty feelings away!
