Crock Pot!

So I had a bit of a big birthday this month! Not quite 21 anymore but age is just a number so I plan to make the most of the next decade.  I booked a lovely big cottage in Hastings for me and 13 friends and my lovely house mates, knowing how much I love my cooking got me this beautiful purple Crock-Pot!

I made my first meal in it yesterday which was a lovely chicken Jambalaya. This dish originates from the Caribbean but with Spanish influences in it. You can pretty much put anything in the Crock-Pot, leave it and go about your day for 8 hours then Voila! Perfect and delicious cooked food and you only have to wash out one pot!

Cake and Bake Festival Brighton

Hi All,  After my appearance running the Have Cake Stall in the Brighton Cake Festival, so many people asked me how I got on so I thought I would mention it on the HaveCake blog.  I ordered rustic environmentally friendly paper bags and made hundreds of bags of regular chocolate brownies with double chocolate, white chocolate chip, chocolate orange and peanut butter brownies.  All in either Gluten free, vegan, gluten free & Vegan as well as the usual contemporary brownies. These brownies are all flavours which are available to buy online on my website havecake.co.uk

I gave out free taster samples and completely sold out of the 300 Gluten Free and Vegan brownies within hours and I had to bake more to avoid disappointment for the next day.  I hadn’t appreciated so many people who were intolerant or avoided both dairy, eggs and wheat would be wandering through the Cake Festival.   Many compliments were received and people were buying bags of Chocolate Mini Egg brownies as something a little more different as Easter Gifts . My good friend  Jason Porter took samples over the local radio show Reverb for a broadcasted taste and review.  The broadcasting studio could be heard sampling and munching away and, considering one of the DJ’s did not even like peanut butter, seemed particularly delighted with the peanut butter brownie version, as did the crowds at the cake festival.

New Flavour!

Hi,

Just launched a new flavour, peanut butter brownies, in Gluten free, Vegan, Gluten Free & Vegan, and the Classic Versions.  I was truly inspired by a most delicious brownie brought back from New York from the famous Magnolia Cake shop as featured in Sex in the City TV programmed.  After eating that brownie I was inspired to create my own version which I have baked in Classic, Gluten Free, Vegan and Gluten Free & Vegan.  You can order these brownies online from http://www.havecake.co.uk. My house mates can’t get enough of the peanut butter chocolate brownies!Image

Welcome to HaveCake!

Hi and Welcome to the HaveCake Blog

Here I will be updating you on the news and events around myself and my online brownie shop www.Havecake.co.uk

As you may know, I have been baking for years and my challenge has always been to create more-ish food. I knew I was successful with the taste factor for the brownies when one of my customers who ran a café in Wandsworth called Cuture Café, asked me to supply her with some home baked brownies and later told me that she and her staff just kept dipping into the home baked brownies instead of selling them and in the end had to control themselves and cut the remaining slices very small!

This name is derived from the famous proverb “You can’t have your cake and eat it too”. Did you know, that, according to Wikipedia, this proverb was recorded as far back as 1546 as “wolde you bothe eate your cake, and have your cake?”

I picked the name HaveCake because when I used to offer out my cakes, living in Brighton I have many Vegan Friends and some Gluten Intolerant Friends and I was conscious they were missing out, whilst we all had cake,  I wanted them to be included in the tasting sampling.  I wanted us all to be able to ‘have cake and eat it’ not matter what our preferences and intolerances were.  Some of my Gluten intolerant friends were used to eating inferior products and were delighted with the tasty results and so have cake and eat it or “HaveCake”  was duly created.   We are starting off with Brownies, which you can buy online, as these are easier to package without spoiling and make pleasing gifts , but will progress to other Gluten Free and Vegan Cakes as I hopefully expand.

I will also be sharing with you some of the recipes I cook for my house mates and friends as I love to try out new ideas (and they love tasting them!)
